21 JUMP STREET and THE LEGO MOVIE Team Reboot THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO for TV

80s cult classic next for reboot treatment…

Following the news that a new live-action series of ‘The Tick’ is the works comes word that another much-loved superhero is headed back to TV. The folks over at Deadline are hearing that 20th Century Fox Television is teaming with ’21 Jump Street’ and ‘The LEGO Movie’ directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller to develop a reboot of the cult-classic 80s “superhero” series ‘The Greatest American Hero.’

Created by legendary TV producer Steven J. Cannell, the series chronicled the adventures of Ralph (played by William Katt), as he discovers a superhero suit which gives him superhuman abilities. Unfortunately for Ralph, he hates wearing the suit, and has to learn how to use its powers by trial and error because he misplaces the suit’s instructions booklet. The series ran for two seasons and also starred Connie Sellecca and Robert Culp.

Lord and Miller will executive produce the rebooted series alongside Cannell’s daughter, television director Tawnia McKiernan, and Rodney Rothman, who is also serving as writer on the project.
