French hit set for English-language redo.
Mark Wahlberg and his Leverage Management producing partner Stephen Levinson are teaming up with Working Title Films for an English-language remake of the 2010 French sleeper hit ‘Point Blank.’
Directed by Fred Cavaye and starring Gilles Lellouche (‘The Players’), Roschdy Zem (‘Just Like A Woman’), Gérard Lanvin (‘A Gang Story’) and Elena Anaya (‘The Skin I Live In’), the original was a race-against-time action thriller centring on Samuel Pierret, a male nurse who has three hours to orchestrate the escape of a murderer in order to keep his kidnapped pregnant wife Nadia alive.
In addition to the English-language remake, Variety is reporting that a South Korean makeover is being developed with up-and-coming filmmaker Juhn Jaihong attached to direct. That redo will be produced by Syd Lim at Barunson and Young Films, whose previous credits include such critically-aclaimed films as Jee-woon Kim’s comedy adventure ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird,’ Joon-ho Bong’s mystery thriller ‘Mother’ and Dae-woo Kim’s ‘The Servant.’
