Will take the male lead for dystopian tale.
Director Wes Ball has cast Dylan O’Brien (‘Teen Wolf,’ ‘The First Time,’ ‘High Road’) for the role of Thomas in his upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi ‘The Maze Runner.’
Adapted from James Dashner’s 2009 novel of the same name, the dystopian story follows Thomas, who after having his memory wiped is “deposited in a community of boys trapped in an enormous maze. He soon learns they are part of a mysterious test, and finds it is his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.”
The adaptation will co-star British stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Sangster, Will Poulter, and Aml Ameen.
Production kicks off next month in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Ball directing from a script by Noah Oppenheim, with rewrites by Grant Myers and T.S. Nowlin.
O’Brien will next be seen in Shawn Levy’s ‘The Internship,’ starring alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
