Israeli documentary being remade into narrative feature.
Variety is reporting that Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films have acquired the feature rights to the Israeli documentary ‘Dolphin Boy’ with plans to adapt it into a narrative feature.
Directed by Dani Menkin and Yonatan Nir, the 2011 film revolves around Morad, a teenager from an Arab village in northern Israel who is traumatized from a violent attack and slowly recovers with the help of dolphins.
The feature adaptation will be penned by ‘The Bucket List’ screenwriter Justin Zackham. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films will produce.
