‘The Crazies’ director Breck Eisner in talks to direct ‘The Last Witch Hunter.’
The LA Times reports that director Breck Eisner (‘Sahara,’ ‘The Crazies’) is in talks to direct ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ for Summit Entertainment. The studio, which is behind the ‘Twilight’ movies, is eyeing ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ as a potential franchise for when the vampires and werewolves series run it’s course.
Based on the screenplay by Cory Goodman (‘Priest,’ ‘Apollo 18’), the protagonist is one of the last remaining witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them.
A person close to the production has said that Vin Diesel has expressed interest in the lead role, but casting choices are still a ways off. Adam Goldworm is producing alongside Timur Bekmambetov. Bekmambetov was originally negotiating to produce and direct but the deal was never settled.
Eisner is still attached to remakes of ‘Escape from New York,’ and ‘Flash Gordon.’ So for now, it is unknown which movie the director will choose for his next.
