Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is among the hopefuls for this year’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards.
Ronan received her nominated for the role in the upcoming Peter Jackson movie ‘The Lovely Bones’.
Ronan is joined on the shortlist by Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire), Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia) and Audrey Tautou (Coco Before Chanel)
The nominees for Best Actor are: Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up in the Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Andy Serkis (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll).
James Cameron (Avatar), Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Lone Scherfig (An Education), Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds) are nominated for Best Director, while ‘Avatar’, ‘An Education’, ‘The Hurt Locker’, ‘Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire’ and ‘Up in the Air’ are nominated for Best Film.
The BAFTAs take place on Sunday 21 February.
