The Hardy Bucks characters Eddie Durkan, The Viper and Buzz O’Donnell recently traveled from Mayo to Dublin in their campervan and Irish jerseys to launch the release onto DVD of The Hardy Bucks Movie. A character driven Irish satire, THE HARDY BUCKS MOVIE was the highest grossing new release in Ireland, enjoying the seventh biggest opening weekend of all-time for an Irish comedy at the Irish box office.
THE HARDY BUCKS MOVIE is written, produced and directed by Mike Cockayne and stars comedians Martin Maloney as Eddie, Chris Tordoff as The Viper, Owen Colgan as Buzz O’Donnell, Peter Cassidy as Frenchtoast O’Toole and Tom Kilgallon as The Boo as they embark on a road trip across Europe to see their beloved republic of Ireland play Poland.
MOVIE SUMMARY
The year is 2012 and Eddie Durkan, the self-proclaimed leader of the ‘Bucks’ is dreading spending another summer with nothing to do in Castletown, a small backwater town in County Mayo. Ireland has qualified for the European Championships in Poland, but with no money and apathetic mates, the task falls to him to get them out and on the road in search of football and the ‘craic’. A small inheritance and an old van provide the escape plan, but when the boys make an unscheduled stop off at Amsterdam, their road trip quickly spirals out of control.
