Natalie Portman (‘Jackie,’ ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness’) has signed on to take the director’s chair and play dual roles in an untitled drama about advice columnists Esther and Pauline Friedman.
Per THR, Portman will play the dueling Friedman sisters who were behind the Ann Landers and Dear Abby columns. The sisters had a bitter professional rivalry but led personal lives that were equal parts competitive, jealous, successful and loving.
Katie Robbins (‘The Affair’) is on board to provide the script for the project, with Peter Saraf and Dani Melia of Big Beach producing.
