Natalie Portman Set for Pop Star Drama VOX LUX

Natalie Portman (‘The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,’ ‘Song to Song’) is set to replace Rooney Mara (‘Carol,’ ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’) as the lead in actor-turned-director Brady Corbet’s forthcoming drama ‘Vox Lux.’

Per Variety, the film follows the rise of ‘Celeste’ from the ashes of a major national tragedy to pop superstardom. Spanning 15 years, the story traces important cultural moments through the singer’s eye, starting in 1999 and ending in the present day.

Jude Law, who previously co-starred with Portman in the Mike Nichols-directed ‘Closer,’ will reunite with the actress on the drama, though details on his role are unknown. Filming on the project commences next month in New York City, with the soundtrack featuring new original music written by Sia.

Portman will next be seen starring in Alex Garland’s sci-fi thriller ‘Annihilation’ when it hits Netflix on March 12th.
