LETHAL WEAPON To Get TV Reboot

A small screen reboot of the ‘Lethal Weapon’ films starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is reportedly in the works over at Fox.

Released in 1987, the Richard Donner-directed odd-couple actioner followed a veteran cop, Richard Murtaugh (Glover), who is partnered with a young suicidal cop, Martin Riggs (Gibson). The film grossed $120 million worldwide and spawned three sequels.

According to THR, the hour-long series will change the narrative slightly, with Riggs now a former Texas cop and Navy SEAL who, following the loss of his wife and baby, moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.

Matt Miller (‘Forever,’ ‘Chuck’) will script the series, as well as serve as producer alongside Dan Lin (‘The Lego Movie,’ ‘Sherlock Holmes’) and Jennifer Gwartz.
