‘Nightcrawler’ and ‘Southpaw’ star Jake Gyllenhaal has become the latest addition to the cast of the sci-fi thriller ‘Life,’ joining a cast that includes Ryan Reynolds and ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ actress Rebecca Ferguson.

Penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (‘Deadpool,’ ‘Zombieland’), the thriller follows “the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected.”

Daniel Espinosa (‘Child 44,’ ‘Safe House,’ ‘Snabba ’) is behind the camera, with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg producing alongside Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis.

Gyllenhaal will next be seen starring in Jean-Marc Vallée’s ‘Demolition’ when it opens in Irish cinemas April 29, 2016.
