Tim Burton Confirms BEETLEJUICE 2 Is A Go

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Tim Burton has confirmed that a sequel to his cult classic 1988 film ‘Beetlejuice’ is officially in the works, with original stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder set to return.

The surreally dark comedy starred Keaton as a demented, terrifying, but hilarious “bioexorcist,” who is hired by a couple of recently deceased ghosts (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

Speaking to ShowbizSpy, Burton said that the long-anticipated follow-up is “a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team. We have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.”

No indication yet as to when production may begin, but having the filmmaker confirm the sequel is happening should keep fans happy.

– UPDATE –

A rep has gotten in touch with the folks over at ShowbizSpy and stated that Burton did not confirm ‘Beetlejuice 2,’ as the movie is not in development. The filmmaker’s focus is said to be entirely on ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’ which is set for release later this year, and developing a live-action take on ‘Dumbo’ for Disney.
