THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. Casts Armie Hammer

Hammer boards the big-budget espionage action thriller.

Following the news from last month that Tom Cruise was set to play American spy Napoleon Solo in Guy Ritchie’s big screen outing of ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E,’ Deadline is hearing word that Armie Hammer has been set as Solo’s Russian counterpart, Ilya Kuryakin.

Starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum, the original series followed the adventures of Solo and Kuryakin, secret agents with the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) who, using gadgets and their wits and charm, fought the evil organization known as THRUSH (Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity).

Hammer, whose credits include roles in ‘J. Edgar,’ ‘Mirror Mirror,’ and ‘The Social Network,’ will next be seen on starring alongside Johnny Depp in Disney’s action adventure ‘The Lone Ranger,’ opening in Irish cinemas August 9th.
