Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan (‘Fifty Shades Darker,’ ‘The Fall’) is set to co-star with Rosamund Pike (‘Gone Girl,’ ‘A United Kingdom’) in Matthew Heineman’s next directorial effort, ‘A Private War,’ Deadline has learned.
Marking the narrative feature of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Matthew Heineman, the film is about famed war journalist Marie Colvin (Pike), who worked in conflict zones including Chechnya, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, where she lost her left eye in 2001. The celebrated war correspondent, who wore a distinctive eye patch after that, died in early 2012 during a rocket attack covering the civil war in Syria for The Sunday Times.
Principal photography is scheduled to get underway in November, with Arash Amel providing the script. Producers include Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Kamala Films’ Marissa McMahon, as well as Denver & Delilah Films. Erica Lee is on board as executive producer.
