Casting fills out for Edward Snowden biopic…

‘The Divergent Series’ star Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo (‘London Has Fallen’), Zachary Quinto (‘Star Trek Into Darkness’), and Tom Wilkinson (‘Unfinished Business’) have become the latest additions to the cast of Oliver Stone’s upcoming Edward Snowden biopic.

The untitled film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’) as Snowden, the NSA contractor who leaked classified documents. Woodley will portray Snowden’s girlfriend Lindsay Mills, with Scott Eastwood (‘Fury’) onboard for a supporting role.

According to the folks at THR, Leo would take the role of documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras, who directed the critically acclaimed Snowden documentary ‘Citizenfour.’

Quinto would be playing lawyer, author and journalist Glenn Greenwald, who Snowden chose to leak sensitive information to, knowing he would handle its publication responsibly.

Finally, Wilkinson is reportedly set for the role of Ewen MacAskill, the defence and intelligence correspondent for The Guardian who helped break the Snowden story.

Stone’s script is based on the books ‘Time of the Octopus’ by Snowden’s Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, and ‘The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man’ by journalist Luke Harding.
