The upcoming live-action take on ‘Barbie’ has reportedly set its sights on Margot Robbie for the lead role, with THR hearing word that the ‘Suicide Squad’ actress is in talks to star and produce.
First announced back in 2016, the project was billed as a spin on the classic Barbie mythology, following a Barbie who is expelled from an idealistic land for not fitting in and winds up in the real world, where she discovers that being unique is an asset.
Amy Schumer (‘Trainwreck’) was initially set to star but left the project, citing scheduling conflicts. It is unclear if this new iteration will keep the original logline.
