Light House Cinema gets festive with its Naughty or Nice season

Ho Ho Ho! Nothing says Christmas like festive movies on the big screen and this year the elves at Light House Cinema Dublin and Pálás Galway have put together a program mixed with classics and unexpected surprises. This year the theme is ‘NAUGHTY OR NICE’ and we’re especially excited to see ‘Batman Returns’ make the list, originally released as a summer blockbuster in 1992, but really it should have been a Christmas release with its festive themes & we can’t wait to see it on the big screen.

The films that will feature this festive season are:

Elf

Home Alone

Home Alone 2

The Family Stone

Love Actually

It’s a Wonderful Life

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker

Die Hard

The Green Knight

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Gremlins

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Light House: Cinema Book Club: LA Confidential

Pálás: I Can’t Believe You Haven’t Seen: Batman Returns

On planning the season, Element Cinema programmer Charlene Lydon commented: “It has been a particular delight to put together a season of Christmas films this year. I’ve never been more in the mood to appreciate some of my favourite seasonal cinematic treats on the big screen. I’m looking forward to cosying up in a cinema with a seasonal beverage and getting lost watching Jimmy Stewart running around Bedford Falls or indeed the Gremlins running amok in Kingston Falls or John McClane running barefoot around the Nakatomi Building. This year we’ll be establishing a brand-new Christmas film – firmly in the “naughty” section of the list – David Lowery’s medieval Christmas epic The Green Knight and after years of requests we’re finally bringing The Family Stone to the big screen. Christmas jumpers at the ready!”

Lastly, to end the year in style, Light House Dublin and Pálás Galway are taking time to look back at the work of award-winning Director Paul Thomas Anderson in advance of his new film ‘Licorice Pizza’, through a retrospective featuring his entire back catalogue including modern classics BOOGIE NIGHTS, THERE WILL BE BLOOD and MAGNOLIA. The retrospective will run from 27th December – 3rd January.
