IFI Horrorthon 2017 Highlights

There’s never been a better time to be a fan of horror movies, some of this years biggest hits have also been the scariest. The IFI in Dublin has always been ahead of the trend with their annual HORRORTHON, which runs this week from from Oct 26th-30th with over 30 horror films.

TragedyGirls

This year the festival opens with ‘Tragedy Girls’ from Patchwork director Tyler MacIntyre who will take part in a post screening Q+A. One of the most anticipated films is the festival closing film, ‘The Housemaid’ on Monday 30th at 20.50. After an orphaned Vietnamese girl is hired to be a housemaid at a haunted rubber plantation in 1953 French Indochina, she unexpectedly falls in love with the French landowner and awakens the vengeful ghost of his dead wife.

Other highlights include a twentieth anniversary screening of ‘Event Horizon’ and movies from directors George A. Romero, Tobe Hooper and John Carpenter. Plus always guaranteed to sell out is the surprise film which takes place on Oct 29th.
