Hemsworth Linked To ALLAN QUATERMAIN Action-Adventure

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ star Chris Hemsworth is reportedly being sought by Sony Pictures for titular lead in ‘Allan Quatermain,’ a new take on the classic literary adventurer.

First appearing in H. Rider Haggard’s 1885’s ‘King’s Solomon Mines,’, Quatermain is an English-born professional big game hunter who knows South Africa well, often being recruited for perilous journeys through jungle terrains in search of treasures.

News of the project comes via The Tracking Board, whose sources say that the plan is to create an action-adventure franchise centred on Hemsworth, using Barnett Brettler’s spec script as the franchise starter.

Quatermain has graced the silver screen over the years with the likes of Richard Chamberlain, Patrick Swayze, and Stewart Granger playing the adventurer. Sean Connery played an incarnation of the character in 2003’s ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.’

Hemsworth will next be seen leading Ron Howard’s action/drama ‘In The Heart of the Sea’ when it is released in Irish cinemas December 26th.
