Gal Gadot, who is currently deep into production on ‘Wonder Woman 84,’ and Armie Hammer (‘On The Basis Of Sex,’ ‘Call Me by Your Name’) are set to star in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ follow-up, ‘Death on the Nile.’
Published in 1937, the book saw master detective Hercule Poirot on holiday in Egypt, where the tranquillity of his luxurious cruise along the Nile is shattered when he becomes involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad.
Deadline hears that Gadot is up for the role of Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, a rich heiress who recently married the former fiancée of an old friend and approaches moustachioed Poirot for help. No word on what role Hammer will take, though it is likely he will be playing Linnet’s husband, Simon Doyle.
The book was previously adapted to screen with John Guillermin’s 1978 movie starring Peter Ustinov as the famed detective. Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Maggie Smith, David Niven, Jane Birkin, Jack Warden, George Kennedy, Angela Lansbury, and Simon MacCorkindale also starred.
