Eva Green & Gemma Arterton To Play VITA AND VIRGINIA

‘Burn, Burn, Burn’ writer-director Chanya Button will take the helm for ‘Vita And Virginia,’ a film adaptation of Eileen Atkins’ stage play tracking the friendship and love affair between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West.

Socialite and popular author Vita Sackville-West and literary icon Virginia Woolf run in different circles in 1920s London. When the two cross paths, the magnetic Vita decides the beguiling, stubborn and gifted Virginia will be her next conquest, no matter the cost. Vita and Virginia forge an unconventional affair, set against the backdrop of their own strikingly contemporary marriages; an affair that inspires one of Virginia’s most iconic novels, ‘Orlando’. Their passionate romance and friendship overcomes all social boundaries, and neither will ever be the same without the other.

Gemma Arterton (‘Their Finest,’ ‘The Girl With All The Gifts’) and Eva Green (‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,’ ‘Casino Royale’) are attached to play Vita and Virginia, respectively.

Button will direct the film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Atkins. Evangelo Kioussis of Mirror Productions and Katie Holly of Dublin based Blinder Films will produce, with Green, Arterton and Mirror’s Simon Baxter serving as executive producers.
