Doug Liman Aims for VICTORY

Would direct remake of the 1981 film…

THR reports that Doug Liman (‘Mr & Mrs Smith,’ ‘Go,’ ‘Swingers’) has entered into talks for a remake of John Huston’s 1981 classic ‘Victory.’

Starring Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max von Sydow, and football legends Bobby Moore and Pelé, the original is set during World War II as allied POWs prepare for a soccer game against the German National Team to be played in Nazi-occupied Paris, the French Resistance and British officers are making plans for the team’s escape.

Liman, who is coming of directing the Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt sci-fi actioner ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ would be directing ‘Victory’ from a script by writer-director Gavin O’Connor (‘Jane Got A Gun,’ ‘Warrior,’ ‘Miracle’).

The remake is set up over at Warner Bros. with Bernie Goldmann and Gianni Nunnari are producing.
