DiCaprio to Produce, Possibly Star in TRUEVINE Adaptation

‘The Revenant’ star Leonardo DiCaprio and his production banner, Appian Way, and Paramount Pictures are looking to adapt Beth Macy’s book ‘Truevine,’ with plans for DiCaprio to star, according to Deadline.

Set in 1899 on a tobacco farm in the Jim Crow South town of Truevine, Virginia, the book is the true story of George and Willie Muse, two African-American brothers who were kidnapped by a white man and forced into a life in the circus. Back home, their mother had no idea what had become of her young sons, and she never accepted that they were “gone.” She endured a 28-year struggle to get them back.

‘Truevine’ is the latest collaboration between DiCaprio and Paramount. DiCaprio and producing partner, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, recently came on board the studio’s big screen outing of ‘Captain Planet,’ with ‘Scream Queens’ star Glen Powell and Jono Matt scripting.
