Channing Tatum to Direct FORGIVE ME, LEONARD PEACOCK

Will co-direct and produce the Matthew Quick adaptation…

THR has learned that Channing Tatum (‘Magic Mike,’ ‘Hail, Caesar’) has selected an adaptation of Matthew Quick’s book ‘Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock’ for his directorial debut, with pal and producing partner Reid Carolin co-directing.

Quick’s novel tells the of Leonard Peacock, a young man, who on his birthday puts his grandfather’s pistol in his backpack, with plans to kill his former best friend and then himself. But first he must say good-bye to the four people who matter most to him: his Humphrey Bogart-obsessed next-door neighbour, Walt; his classmate Baback, a violin virtuoso; Lauren, the Christian homeschooler he has a crush on; and Herr Silverman, who teaches the high school’s class on the Holocaust.

James Ponsoldt (‘Smashed,’ ‘The Spectacular Now’), who was at one point set to direct, penned an earlier draft of the script.

Tatum will next be seen starring alongside Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo in the Bennett Miller’s eagerly awaited ‘Foxcatcher,’ hitting Irish cinemas January 9th 2015.
