Veteran filmmaker Brian De Palma (‘Scarface,’ ‘The Untouchables,’ ‘Carlito’s Way,’ ‘Carrie’) has signed on to helm the action thriller ‘Lights Out.’
Per Variey, ‘Lights Out’ is the story of “a blind Chinese girl unknowingly caught in a plot to expose a top-secret assassination program. Although blind, she is able to use her other heightened senses to fight back and become a hero.”
Lamont Magee and Jeff W. Byrd are providing the screenplay, with Ying Ye, Jon Chieuw, Gary Hamilton, Mike Gabrawy, Elliot Tong, Jennifer Weiss and Simone Urdl producing.
“We’re excited and honoured to be working with one of the great living film directors, Brian De Palma, on Lights Out,” said Ye, managing director of Aurora Alliance Films. “De Palma is a proven master of suspense; in the hands of the legendary director, Lights Out promises to be a thriller for the ages, full of empowering messages, harrowing plot turns and great action sequences.”
De Palma and is producers are looking to cast an A-list Chinese actress for the female lead.
