Warner Bros. has confirmed the long-standing rumours that Ben Affleck’s Batman will get a solo outing, with studio chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara also confirming Affleck for the director’s chair.
The Caped Crusader’s solo feature is part of the studio’s plans for an expanded DC Comics cinematic universe, similar to that of the Disney and Marvel collaboration. Warner Bros. has at least 10 features in the works, including the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Justice League’ parts one and two.
Affleck debuted his portrayal of Bruce Wayne and his dark alter ego in this year’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ The Zack Snyder-directed superhero showdown has grossed € 652.94 million worldwide so far.
SUICIDE SQUAD hits Irish cinemas August 5, 2016.
