Deadline has learned that Ben Affleck and Warner Bros are teaming up to develop an untitled big-scale geopolitical thriller for Affleck to direct and star in.
Will Staples (‘World’s Most Wanted,’ ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’) is on board to provide the script for the Africa-set thriller that centres on a bunch of mercenaries who are hired to kill a warlord who has been victimizing his own people. According to the site, the film has been described as both “an action movie and an examination of the moral ambiguities of how philanthropy and foreign assistance veers into modern-day neo-colonialism.”
Affleck will produce alongside writing partner and friend Matt Damon and Jennifer Todd through their Warner Bros-based banner Pearl Street Films.
