X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and KICK-ASS Co-Writer Tackling FABLES Script

Matthew Vaughn’s frequent collaborator adapting acclaimed comic series…

Screenwriter Jane Goldman (‘Kingsman: The Secret Service,’ The Woman in Black,’ ‘X-Men First: Class,’ ‘Kick-Ass,’ ‘Stardust’) has come on board ‘Fables,’ the big screen adaptation of Bill Willingham’s Eisner Award-winning comic series that has ‘A Royal Affair’ director Nikolaj Arcel in the director’s chair.

Confirming Goldman’s involvement, producer David Heyman told CBR, “Jane is working on a draft of Fables as we speak. Nik Arcel did a draft, and now he’s supervising Jane, who’s doing a draft. Hopefully it’ll come in and we’ll be able to move to the next stage. All these things always take longer than you want. And Fables is not easy, by any means, but I think it’ll be pretty great.”

Published by DC Comics’s Vertigo imprint, the critically acclaimed series centres on fairy- and folktale characters ranging from Snow White, Cinderella to the Big Bad Wolf and Little Boy Blue, who have been exiled from The Homeland and now live in a clandestine community dubbed Fabletown in New York City.

A hugely successful videogame spin-off of Willingham’s series, titled ‘The Wolf Among Us,’ was developed and published by Telltale Games. The game is canon with the comic book universe and is set as a prequel. An episodic graphic adventure like Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ series, the game revolves around Bigby, the titular Big Bad Wolf of legend, the best detective in Fabletown.
