Legendary Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike will step behind the camera for a live-action version of Yū Sasuga and Kenichi Tachiban’s hugely popular manga series ‘Terra Formars,’ according to the folks at Fandom Post.
The sci-fi action/adventure is set in 2557 and follows an attempt to colonize Mars by using cockroaches and mould to terraform the environment. However, when the first manned ship lands on the red planet, the crew is greeted by giant humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. All six members of the landing party are wiped out by the evolved roaches, but not before sending a warning back to Earth. Now, humanity will send warriors, injected with various DNA of life on Earth, to exterminate the mutated bugs and claim back Mars.
