ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS Casts Eve Hewson as Maid Marian

Irish actress Eve Hewson (‘The Knick,’ ‘This Must Be The Place’) has scored the female lead opposite Taron Egerton in ‘Robin Hood: Origins.’

A gritty, revisionist take on the legend on the heroic outlaw, the Joby Harold-scripted film sees Robin Hood returning from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.

Hewson will take on the role of Maid Marian after beating out the likes of Gugu Mbatha-Raw (‘Belle’), Gaite Jansen (‘Supernova’), and Lucy Fry (‘Vampire Academy’).

‘Peaky Blinders’ helmer Otto Bathurst is behind the camera, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson producing alongside and Safe House’s Harold and Tory Tunnell and Basil Iwanyk.

Hewson will next be seen in the Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg historical drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ when it is released in Irish November 27th.
