Pierce Brosnan Travels ACROSS THE RIVER AND INTO THE TREES

Irish actor Pierce Brosnan is set to star in ‘Across the River and Into the Trees,’ an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s 1950 novel that will re-team the Navan native with his ‘GoldenEye’ director Martin Campbell.

Set in Venice at the close of World War II, Hemingway’s novel is “the bittersweet story of a middle-aged American colonel, scarred by war and in failing health, who finds love with a young Italian countess at the very moment when his life is becoming a physical hardship to him. It is a love so overpowering and spontaneous that it revitalizes the man’s spirit and encourages him to dream of a future, even though he knows that there can be no hope for long.”

Principal photography is pencilled in for an October start in Italy, with Robert MacLean, John Smallcombe, Kirstin Roegner, and Claudia Bluemhuber producing.

‘Across the River and Into the Trees’ will be Brosnan’s third collaboration with Campbell, as the two are currently in production on the Jackie Chan-co-starring action thriller ‘The Foreigner.’
