Small-town boy Shawn MacArthur has come to New York City with nothing. Barely earning a living selling counterfeit goods on the streets, his luck changes when scam artist Harvey Boarden sees that he has a natural talent for street fighting. When Harvey offers Shawn help at making the real cash, the two form an uneasy partnership. As Shawn's manager, Harvey introduces him to the corrupt bare-knuckle circuit, where rich men bet on disposable pawns. Almost overnight, he becomes a star brawler, taking down professional boxers, mixed martial arts champs and ultimate fighters in a series of staggeringly intense bouts. But, if Shawn ever hopes to escape the dark world in which he's found himself, he must now face the toughest fight of his life.

Delivers all it promises and quite well. Only real problem is how little it promises; namely, fighting,

I thought this was a good movie with a sustainable plot and decent action. Channing Tatum is a fine up and coming actor.

Fighting films, they are few and far between with a new one surfacing every few years. It is a limited genre of film but one which has a lot of classics. Raging Bull, Ali, Fight Club and now we have Fighting. The name itself implies a bloody film but in reality it would suit any other fighting film better. There are only about 3 or 4 fights in the whole film and the rest of the film is unbearably full. Their are many dramatic pot points which never really go anywhere. The main conflict in the film was ridiculously uninteresting and the shaky camera ruined anything else decent. Terrence Howard was good but not nearly good enough to save this film. Dito Montiel appeared to have potential after his brilliant debut in the part-biographical and extremely gritty 'A guide to recognizing your saints' but unfortunately it seems he is incapable of handling something not real to him. Very disappointing and I highly doubt this film will become known as one of the best fighting films ever made.

Simple title for a simple film. I was bored all of the way through, really lame dialogue and weak characters. I thought that the fight scenes might save it somewhat but they didnt even get that right. In a nutshell its shite.

Take every fight movie sterotype and put them into a pointless mess with annoying acting and a plot written on the back of a small post-it. I could forgive it if the fighting in Fighting was any good - but I've seen Southpark fights that have better choreograpy. Terrance Howard is unbelievably irritating n this crime against humanity.

Absolutely horrendous!!Its almost impossible to critique as a movie..just imagine step up meets any dreadful Van Damme movie..You can work out within the first 10mins into the film what is going to happen. The fight scenes are rubbish,in between fight scenes nothing really happens. You don't see much of the fighting either because of either up close or far back filming also thanks to its U.S PG-13 there barely any decent violence,as is usually the case in this type of b-movie.just awful!

Channing Tatum plays a mumbling incoherent hobo who possesses mad skillz when it comes to a bit of the old fisticuffs. The fight scenes are hugely disappointing and even Terrence Howard's likable street hustler cannot save this from utter mediocrity.

Saw this through the grace of Movies.ie. And I was lucky that was the case as I defo would not have paid to see this. Plot was weak, acting was very weak. Only go see this if you have nothing to do and want to spend about 90 mins on your own a cinema screen lol.
