THE MEETING – Trailer for Alan Gilsenan’s Highly-Charged New Film

A drama with a difference, THE MEETING is the latest feature from acclaimed Irish film and theatre director Alan Gilsenan and focuses on the true story of a young rape victim confronting her attacker.

In a modest room in a Dublin suburb, two people prepare for a meeting that could have an enormous impact on their lives. For both of them, it is a complete step into the unknown.

The film is based on a real meeting which took place between Ailbhe Griffith and the man who, nine years earlier, subjected her to a horrific sexual assault and left her seriously injured and fearing for her life. Griffith, in an extraordinary move, has chosen to play herself in this unique drama from one of Ireland’s most provocative filmmakers, Alan Gilsenan.

What emerges is a truly unique and unorthodox cinematic experience as Ailbhe courageously seeks healing through a progressive form of justice, rapidly gaining momentum throughout the world.

The film, featuring original music by Dublin-based four piece Cloud Castle Lake, also stars Terry O’Neill, Kevin McCormack, Marie Keenan, Brenda McSweeney, and Allan Keating.

THE MEETING opens at cinemas nationwide on September 28th.
