Live-Action LEGEND OF ZELDA Series Reportedly In Development

Classic videogame may be headed to Netflix…

The folks over at WSJ are hearing that Netflix is in early stages of developing a live-action series based on the hit Nintendo videogame franchise ‘The Legend of Zelda.’

Launched in 1987, the series centres on Link, who is tasked with rescuing Princess Zelda and the kingdom of Hyrule from Gannon, the powerful Prince of Darkness. The stories commonly involve a relic known as the Triforce, a set of three omnipotent golden triangles.

According to The Journal’s sources, the streaming company is working closely with Nintendo, envisioning the live-action series “as ‘Game of Thrones’ for a family audience.”

The news is something of a surprise as the Japanese game developer is very protective of its properties, allowing few adaptations over the years.
