Liam Neeson to Lead THE ESCAPIST Remake

British thriller gets American redo with ‘Taken’ star…

It has been announced that ‘Taken’ star Liam Neeson is set to take the lead in an American remake of Rupert Wyatt’s 2008 directorial debut ‘The Escapist.’

The original prison thriller starred Brian Cox as Frank Perry, a convict serving a life sentence who develops an ingenious escape plan in order to make peace with his ailing, estranged daughter. Knowing he cannot do it alone, he assembles a motley crew of younger inmates to enact his plan. Damian Lewis, Joseph Fiennes, Seu Jorge, Liam Cunningham, Dominic Cooper, and Stephen Farrelly (aka WWE superstar Sheamus) also starred.

Wyatt is on board to serve as producer on the remake with Sean O’Keefe penning the script.

Neeson will next be seen in ‘Taken 3,’ opening this Friday.
