J.K. Simmons Joins JUSTICE LEAGUE As Commissioner Gordon

‘Whiplash’ Oscar winner and beloved character actor J.K. Simmons has scored the role of Commissioner Gordon in director Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ follow-up, ‘Justice League.’

Simmons, who is probably best known for playing J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, joins a cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot,  Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.

Penned by Chris Terrio, ‘Justice League’ sees Earth’s greatest heroes teaming up to combat a threat beyond each member’s capabilities. ‘Justice League: Part One’ kicks off principal photography next month, with release pencilled in for late 2017, while Part Two hits cinemas summer 2019.

Gotham City Police Commissioner Gordon has been played by numerous actors over the years, from Neil Hamilton’s take on the character in the 1960s TV series, to Pat Hingle in Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher’s films, to Gary Oldman’s incarnation in Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight Trilogy.’ Ben McKenzie plays a younger incarnation of Gordon in the TV series ‘Gotham.’

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is released in Irish cinemas March 25th, but we are giving lucky readers the chance to attend a preview screening of the highly anticipated film. You can find details here.
