Felicity Jones Scores Lead Role in STAR WARS Spinoff

Spinoff finds its lead in Jones…

Multiple outlets are reporting that Oscar-nominated ‘The Theory of Everything’ star Felicity Jones has landed the female lead in the Gareth Edwards-directed ‘Star Wars’ spinoff.

Chris Weitz (‘About A Boy’) is on board to provide the script, replacing Gary Whitta who penned the first draft.

As expected, Disney and Lucasfilm are keeping plot details firmly under wraps. However, the film is rumoured to take place before the events in ‘Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope’ and centre on a group of bounty hunters hired by the Rebel Alliance to steal plans for the Death Star.

The likes of Edgar Ramirez (‘Deliver Us From Evil’) and Aaron Paul (‘Breaking Bad’) are rumoured for the male lead, a part that has been described as “Han Solo-esque.”

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens worldwide December 18th 2015.
