Dwayne Johnson Boards Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE

Dwayne Johnson (‘San Andreas,’ ‘Fast and Furious 7’) is attached to star in ‘Jungle Cruise,’ a proposed action adventure flick inspired by the Disneyland attraction.

One of Disneyland’s original rides, the retro adventure ride sees a small riverboat takes a group of travellers through a mélange of African settings such as the Nile River and Congo River, encountering rhinos, hippos, piranhas and headhunters along the way.

The Mouse House has been developing a big screen take on the ride for over a decade and at one point had set it up as a starring vehicle for ‘Toy Story’ duo Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

According to Heat Vision, the plan is for ‘Jungle Cruise’ to harken back to period adventures like ‘The African Queen,’ the 1951 classic starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn that was one of the original inspirations for the ride.

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (‘Pirates Of The Caribbean,’ ‘The Haunted Mansion’) are providing the script.
