DUNE Images Offer First Look at Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides

The folks over at Vanity Fair have shared the first stills from Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated two-part take on the Frank Herbert sci-fi epic ‘Dune.’ Check them out below.

In the year 10191, a spice called melange is the most valuable substance known in the universe, and its only source is the desert planet Arrakis. A royal decree awards Arrakis to Duke Leto Atreides and ousts his bitter enemies, the Harkonnens. However, when the Harkonnens violently seize back their fiefdom, it is up to Paul (played by Chalamet), Leto’s son, to lead the Fremen, the natives of Arrakis, in a battle for control of the planet and its spice.

Villeneuve’s star-studded cast includes Rebecca Ferguson as Paul’s mother, Lady Jessica, and Oscar Isaac as his father, Duke Leto. ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ star Zendaya is playing Chani, a mystery woman who haunts Paul in his dreams as a vision with glowing blue eyes. Jason Momoa and Josh Brolin take on the roles of Duncan Idaho and Gurney Halleck, two bravado warriors who mentor Paul. The cast also features Javier Bardem as Stilgar, leader of the Fremen tribe; Dave Bautista as a sinister Harkonnen enforcer named Glossu Rabban; Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet Kynes, the leading ecologist on Arrakis; Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and Charlotte Rampling as the Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother.

DUNE is slated to arrive in cinemas in December.
