Christian Bale (‘Knight of Cups,’ ‘American Hustle’) has put pen to paper and committed to leading director Michael Mann’s biopic of automotive mogul Enzo Ferrari.

In development for close to 15 years, Mann’s passion project tells of the Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur who redefined the high-powered Italian sports car and almost single-handedly created Formula One racing.

According to Deadline, the film takes place in 1957, “a year where passion, failure, success and death and life all collided.”

Bale and Mann previously collaborated on 2009’s ‘Public Enemies.’
