Brian Kirk Boards Action Thriller NARCO SUB with Liam Neeson

‘Taken’ star wanted for lead role…

Armagh born helmer Brian Kirk (‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘My Boy Jack,’ ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ ‘Dexter,’ ‘Luther) has signed on to take the director’s chair for the action-thriller ‘Narco Sub,’ reports TheWrap.

Long-in-works, the David Guggenheim-scripted thriller is set in the dangerous world of drug trafficking and follows “a notorious Ecuadorian drug lord who forces a disgraced American naval officer to navigate a cocaine-packed submarine past the U.S. Coast Guard.” According to the trade’s sources, ‘Taken’ and ‘Run All Night’ star Liam Neeson is the top choice for the lead.

Ridley Scott will produce the thriller alongside Simon Kinberg of Genre Films. Elishia Holmes of Scott Free Productions and Genre Films’ Aditya Sood will serve as executive producers.

Doug Liman (‘Edge of Tomorrow’), Antoine Fuqua (‘The The Equalizer’), and the late Tony Scott (‘Crimson Tide’) were linked to various incarnations of the film over the years.
