Female-driven drama finds a director.
Playwright and director George C. Wolfe (‘Nights in Rodanthe’) has closed a deal to direct Hilary Swank (‘New Year’s Eve,’ ‘Conviction’) and Emmy Rossum (‘Beautiful Creatures,’ ‘Shameless’) in a feature adaptation of Michelle Wildgen’s 2006 novel ‘You’re Not You,’ reports Variety.
Set to begin principal photography in Los Angeles in early November, the drama follows Kate (Swank), a woman suffering from motor neurone disease, and Bec (Rossum) an aimless young college student who enters her life as a caregiver. The screenplay was adapted by Shana Feste (‘Country Strong’) with rewrites by Jordan Roberts (‘3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom’).
In development for a several years now, the adaptation will be produced by Swank and her 2S partner Molly Smith along with Denise Di Novi (‘The Lucky One,’ ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’) and Alison Greenspan (‘Nights in Rodanthe’).
