Described by the filmmakers as “a Celtic Tiger tale you’ve never seen before,” KING FRANKIE captures a raw, emotional narrative about the promises we make to others and to ourselves—and the strength it takes to keep them.
The film, starring Peter Coonan (Love/Hate, Bad Sisters) had its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival to critical acclaim earlier this year, and will be released in cinemas nationwide on October 11th but lucky readers won’t have to wait that long, we have
tickets to an advance preview screening on the 8th October taking place
in Dublin’s city centre.

ABOUT THE MOVIE
After the death of his Father, Dublin taxi driver Frankie Burke (Peter Coonan) is confronted by the ghosts of his past in the form of an unexpected visitor who he has not seen in 10 years. The arrival sends Frankie back in time to the worst day of his life – to the Celtic Tiger 5-star hotel where it all went wrong. There, he is forced to deal with a past which exposed his failings, resulting in a tragedy from which he has worked so hard to recover.
The cast includes Conor MacNeill (The Sixth Commandment), Ruairi O’Connor (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), Lynn Rafferty (Taken Down), Olivia Caffrey (Trivia), Ally Ni Chiarain (Calm with Horses), and Owen Roe (Michael Collins). The film also marks rapper Rejjie Snow’s acting debut.
Shot on location in North County Dublin and County Meath, King Frankie was produced by Matt D’Arcy for Banjoman and is in receipt of completion funding from Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland. Banjoman was awarded Irish Production Company of the Year at the Kinsale Shark Awards in both 2021 and 2022.
