Anton Yelchin (‘Star Trek,’ ‘Odd Thomas’), Kellan Lutz (‘The Expendables 3,’ ‘The Legend of Hercules’), and ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress Taryn Manning have been added to the cast of the Michael Almereyda-directed ‘Experimenter.’
Led by Peter Sarsgaard (‘Blue Jasmine’), the film focuses on the life of social psychologist Stanley Milgram, who designed the controversial Obedience Experiments at Yale University in 1961. The experiments analysed the responses of people who believed they were delivering electric shocks to an affable stranger strapped into a chair in another room.
As previously reported, Winona Ryder (‘The Iceman’) will play Milgram’s student and love interest, Sasha Menkin, who helps with the experiments. Dennis Haysbert, John Leguizamo, Josh Hamilton, Edoardo Ballerini and Anthony Edwards also star.
THR hears that Lutz has signed on to play actor William Shatner, who portrayed Milgram in a 1970s TV movie, while Yelchin will play Rensaleer, a character who resists authority. Meanwhile, Manning will take the role of Mrs. Lowe. a distressed test subject.
Filming is underway in New York City with Uri Singer, Fabio Golombek, Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins, Danny A. Abeckaser and Per Melita producing.
