XMen Origins Casting Update

More news about the upcoming X-Men spin-off: ‘X-men origins: Wolverine’. Last week the first official image was released (click here if you missed it), this week, news about the cast has emerged.

Michelle Monaghan and Maggie Q were reportedly in the running for Kayla Silverfox, Wolverine’s love interest; it’s since been confirmed that the 28-year old actress Lynn Collins, previously seen in ‘The Number 23’, ‘Bug’ and ‘The lake house’ will take the role. Collins can also be seen in Alan Ball’s ‘Towelhead’, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Liev Schreiber, originally assumed to be playing William Stryker, will instead play Sabertooth. The role of a young Stryker, played by Brian Cox in ‘X-Men 2’, will be filled by Danny Huston (30 Days of Night).

Various rumours still surround the character The Blob, whether he’ll make an appearance or not is still unclear. Some reports suggest that the character is potentially involved in the story. We’ll keep you updated as news comes in!

‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ is currently in production and is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, 2009.
