X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Adds Omar Sy

Singer announces latest addition for the superhero sequel.

Award-winning French actor Omar Sy (‘The Intouchables,’ ‘Micmacs’) has landed an unspecified role in Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’ The director tweeted Sy’s involvement on Saturday evening:

“Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast!”

Based on Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s iconic 1981 story arc, the film is the follow-up to 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ and revolves around a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps by the Sentinels. The few surviving members of the X-Men – Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Colossus and Magneto – must travel in time to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

Sy joins a sprawling cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and ‘Game of Thrones’ alum Peter Dinklage.

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is set to begin principal photography in April with release slated for July 2014.
