Ryder replacing Gyllenhaal on mob drama.

Winona Ryder has joined the cast of Ariel Vromen’s mob drama ‘The Iceman,’ replacing Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Based on Anthony Bruno’s book ‘The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer,’ the drama stars Michael Shannon as Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski, a family man who secretly carried out contract killings for the mob. Ryder will be taking the role of Kuklinski’s unsuspecting wife, Deborah.

Chris Evans will co-star, playing Kuklinski’s mentor, Robert Pronge aka Mr. Softee. Ray Liotta, David Schwimmer and Ryan O’Nan (‘Eat Pray Love’) round out the supporting cast.

Vromen (‘Simple Lies,’ ‘Danika’) will be helming from a screenplay he co-wrote with Morgan Land (‘Simple Lies’).
