William H. Macy, Jacob Tremblay, and Joan Allen Enter Lenny Abrahamson’s ROOM

Abrahamson’s next casts its young lead…

William H. Macy (‘Rudderless’), Jacob Tremblay (‘Extraterrestrial’), and Joan Allen (‘The Killing’) are to join Brie Larson (‘Short Term’) on the cast of ‘Room,’ the next directorial effort from Irish filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson (‘Frank,’ ‘What Richard Did,’ ‘Garage’).

An adaptation of the international bestseller by Emma Donoghue, ‘Room’ tells the story of Jack (Tremblay), a five-year-old growing up somewhere in America in an 11-by-11-foot shed he believes to be the whole world; his playful, devoted young mother (Larson) has shielded him from the truth that they are captives.

THR adds that Sean Bridgers (‘Rectify’), Tom McCamus (‘The Samaritan’) and Megan Park (‘What If’) have also come aboard the film, which will shoot at Pinewood Studios and on location in Toronto.

Abrahamson is directing the film based on a screenplay written by Donoghue.
