Will Ferrell and Josh Gad (‘Frozen,’ ‘Wish I Was Here’) are being lined up to headline the upcoming biopic ‘Russ & Roger Go Beyond.’
TheWrap has Ferrell up for the role of ‘Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill’ writer-director-producer Russ Meyer, with ‘Frozen’ star Gad playing beloved film critic Roger Ebert.
Scripted by Emmy-winner Christopher Cluess (‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Cheers,’ ‘Saturday Night Live’), the film chronicles the unique relationship between budding film critic Ebert and soft-core filmmaker Meyer, who teamed up to make the salacious cult classic ‘Beyond the Valley of the Dolls’ in 1970.
David Permut’s Permut Presentations, Mark Amin of Sobini Films, and Richard Waltzer’s Chautauqua Entertainment are producing. No word on who will direct.
