Jude Law exits the troubled production.
Following yesterday’s news of Lynne Ramsey’s abrupt departure from the western revenge thriller ‘Jane Got a Gun,’ Deadline’s Mike Fleming is hearing that Gavin O’ Connor, best known for directing the mixed martial arts drama ‘Warrior,’ has been brought in to take the director’s chair.
The thriller follows Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman), a woman whose outlaw husband, Bill, returns home riddled with bullets. Convinced Bill’s gang will return to finish him off and destroy her farm, the woman turns to Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton), an ex-lover she hasn’t seen in a decade, to help her defend the farm.
Jude Law was on board to portray vengeful gang leader John Bishop, but it is now thought that the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ star has formally withdrawn from the film due to Ramsay’s exit.
Production is expected to resume this weekend with producers scrambling to lock in a replacement for Law.
